You may have noticed that we have added an accessibility tool bar on our website! Recite Me is an add-on that allows someone to access the information available on the site by providing accessibility and language options. This exciting addition expands access to a broader audience by allowing individuals to customize their interaction with the website in the way that works best for them. One in five people have a disability, 15% of people have dyslexia, 774 million people can’t read or write, and one in five disabled adults never used the internet in 2019. In today’s world, we use the internet for everything from attending appointments, paying bills, getting new information, and so much more. Therefore, it is crucial that we expand our website’s accessibility so we can be a resource for anyone experiencing abuse and violence.
Recite Me includes a variety of options including text-to-speech, changing the font as well as the size, color and font. Further, the user can choose to have either a dark or a light background, a magnifying lens, the ability to change the language of the website as well as many more accessibility enhancing options. Many of the additional language options also have a text-to-speech feature. The tool bar allows the user to customize their experience with our website. The addition of Recite Me to the Partners for Peace website means that all of our resources and information are available to a much more broad audience!
