As the days get shorter, you can be a light for survivors of domestic violence. Help the survivors and children in our Residential Program create happy and joyful memories together. We have several survivors and families in our shelter and transitional housing program who are in need.
The Be A Light Gift Card Drive is back and we need your support. We are collecting $5,000 in Visa (most ideal), Walmart, and Hannaford Gift Cards for individuals and families in need of support this holiday season, during the cold winter months, and year-round. Gift cards empower survivors and give them the autonomy to prioritize their needs around the holidays. Gift cards also allow survivors the opportunity to experience the joy of shopping for the family, instead of having gifts bought for them.
Every family in our residential program will be given at least $50 worth of gift cards for every member of the family. What we bring in beyond that will help survivors of domestic violence throughout the cold months and year-round.
Gift cards (Visa, Walmart, or Hannaford) can be mailed to PO Box 653, Bangor, ME 04402-0653 Re: Be A Light. Alternatively, you can give by writing a check or donating online and note that it’s for the Be A Light Program. Everyone who gives to this program will receive a free Be A Light magnet in the mail.
We ask that gift cards for the holidays be received by December 1.
